Weekly Digest #87
Hey, you!
Life is good when the house is tidy.
I caught myself thinking this sentence out loud and then thought that it makes sense both literally and figuratively.
I don’t know about you, but I can’t get anything done in a messy environment. At the beginning of each week, I tend to dedicate the first hours of my Monday mornings to organizing my office, so I can be productive here.
The same happens, figuratively, when I’m overwhelmed by my own thoughts. I refer to them as ‘tabs’, like the ones we have in web browsers - when too many of them are open, I can’t figure out where the music is coming from. So whenever I feel there are just too many tabs, I try to write everything down on paper and get it off me - as if pressing alt+f4.
But these past weeks I worked so much that I didn’t have the time to tidy the house nor get rid of my thoughts. That’s, partly, the reason I barely showed up during September.
I wish I had more time so I could sleep more, write more, dance more, study more, read more, meet my friends more, make new friends more, see my family more, reply more to text messages, follow newsletters and break the routine more often. More, more, more, more... you got it.
Now, it’s my favorite month of the year and I feel very repetitive in telling you that I’m trying to make more time for myself and the things I treasure. But, what is life without some repetition, am I right?

I’ll be attending a Belle & Sebastian show in December, this year, and buying the tickets led me back into listening to all the other bands I came across during that same period of my life. This trip down memory lane brought back a band I’d completely forgotten about: Camera Obscura!
They are an indie pop Scottish band and their fourth album, My Maudlin Career, was the first one I heard by them. Although this album is not very different from the previous ones they released, I can’t complain about the sarcastic and hopeless romantic style of the songs and lyrics. As I told you before, repetition can definitely be ok.
If you want to start as I did, your first song should be The Sweetest Thing. If not, click here to listen to the full album.

Preschool Punks and Dancing Mommies at the Linda Lindas Show
“Most punk shows don’t have an audience that can comfortably fit under the lip of the stage. Or fans that headbang atop the shoulders of heavily tattooed men who happen to be their papas.” - from the New York Times. Read here.
